Oregon hiking trails - Old Baldy Trail, Central Cascade Range, Clackamas County

   
  A visit to Oregon is not complete without some backpacking. Old Baldy Trail is a long tour away from Hood River, but it is a splendid hideaway from the settlement. Pleasant trails in Oregon are in abundance, and among these are Old Baldy Trail in Clackamas County. Old Baldy Trail is a backpacking trail of tremendous length with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this trail wonderful for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. This is a great outdoors hiking trail that is quite long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Every trail
    in Oregon is different from the others. Now, this is roughly a 1.5-day backcountry trek, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. Old Baldy Trail typically gets a good deal of rain; through December this area sees the most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest
month. Old Baldy Trail is 11 miles long; it's longer than many hiking trails. The hiking trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole hiking trail. The pretty backpacking trails of the Central Cascade Range are a very tremendous way to see these hills. Backcountry backpacking here in Oregon never gets boring. During the warmest time of the year here at Old Baldy Trail, high temperatures regularly get into the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink  
down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's while Old Baldy Trail night low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 30's. This is just one of a large number of trails in this neighborhood. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. This hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 638 feet which is lower than average. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and Old Baldy Trail in Clackamas County, Oregon is a splendid site for getting out. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry hike.

Briefly about the general area:
Camping at Lookout Springs Campground is always a pleasant experience. Paddling on Sandy River is so much fun; there's some flowing water close by, Shining Creek is a stream you can pop by during your stay.
So many cool things in the Central Cascade Range, just inspiring. Squaw Meadow is a delightful location to stretch your legs a bit, and Squaw Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit. Camping is available at Shining Lake Campground, and whitewater paddling is fine on Roaring River.
