Mud Lake Trail has only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out walk. Mud Lake Trail has a total elevation difference of 212 feet which is lower than average. With its 3.8 miles of walking distance it's shorter than many great outdoors trails. Mud Lake Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Even though this is not a very long trail it's always glorious to bring some emergency supplies, you never know what could happen. You should count on this backcountry trek taking about 3.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that.
