Oregon hiking trails - Mud Lake Trail, Central Cascade Range, Deschutes County       It's a long trip from Bend to Mud Lake Trail, but you always have a tremendous time when you're hiking along it. There are backcountry trails all over Oregon; one of them being Mud Lake Trail in Deschutes County. There are plenty of backcountry trails in Oregon; each one of them has its own unique splendor. There's not much difference in elevation along Mud Lake Trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. At Mud Lake Trail throughout the long summer days highs are in the 70's. Summer night lows plunge down to the 40's. The     wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows in the 10's for Mud Lake Trail. You should count on this walk taking about 3.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. This backcountry hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 212 feet which is a lower than average number. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Mud Lake Trail is 3.8 miles long it's a shorter type backcountry hike. We all need to get out in the outdoors once in a while, and Mud Lake Trail in Deschutes County, Oregon is just what you need. This backcountry hiking trail has only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry walk it normally. Mud Lake Trail usually gets lots of rain; through the month of December you get the most snow around here, and July on the other hand is the driest. Briefly about the general area: Be careful coming to the Central Cascade Range, you might not ever wanna return back home again. Mud Lake Trail is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Upper Campground is a delightful local campground, and naturally Soda Creek is a pretty stream that is worth taking a look at.
