for any current fire restrictions before you go. Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in nature a bit, and Minetop Trail in Morrow County, Oregon is a brilliant choice. Minetop Trail is a normal length hiking and backpacking trail having an average number of uphill
miles which makes it a tremendous backcountry trail for experienced hikers in great shape. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. There's not much difference in elevation along Minetop Trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along
the whole great outdoors trail.
Briefly about the general area: A glorious site in the vicinity of Minetop Trail is Mulligan Stew Canyon, and a pleasant trip to Gilman Flat is a perfect way to spend an afternoon. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Minetop
Trail. A visit to John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is worthwhile. Some close by water includes Bear Creek; Skookum Spring is an inspiring spot to stop by during your stay. And if that's not enough there's a heap more enjoyable things to do in the Blue Mountains. Swale
Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit; do set aside some time for Mahogany Flat since you're here at Minetop Trail. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Circle Bar Spring; you can stay the night at Elkhorn Tavern and RV Park.
