taking about 8 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Being 8.8 miles long it's an average length backcountry hiking trail. This is one of many backcountry trails in the surrounding vicinity. Keep in mind that this is a long hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Martin Creek Trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Martin Creek Trail gets very little rain; the month with most of the rain  
is November; July is when it's the driest. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. Through the summertime months here at Martin Creek Trail, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 30's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 30's, and night lows at Martin Creek Trail all through the winter mostly sink into the 10's. Wagner Gulch is a good site to discover, and do put some time aside to spend at Packsaddle Spring while you're here at Martin Creek Trail. Get yourself into a kayak and hit John Day River - North Fork, and camping at Martin Creek Trail is magnificent fun, Time and a Half Campground is a magnificent local campground. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Blue Mountains, not enough time.
Why not visit nearby Squaw Creek if you're here at Martin Creek Trail; do set aside some time for China Meadow since you're here at Martin Creek Trail.
