trail for the average person looking for a nice adventure. The time needed for this backcountry trek is roughly 3 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. This is one of a very small number of hiking and backpacking trails
in this area. The backcountry hiking trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Here in Oregon trekking is always an enjoyable thing to do. With its 3.2 miles of walking distance it's a shorter
type walk. This backcountry trail sometimes gets very dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lookout Mountain Trail a wet place; December is the month that gets
the most rain; the driest of the months is July.
Briefly about the general area: There's no way someone can get bored here in the Central Cascade Range. There are some glorious whitewater spots on Blue River, and camping is available at Tombstone Prairie Campground.
If you come at the right time of year, Horse Creek offers some nice whitewater, and a delightful location to camp here at Lookout Mountain Trail is Patio RV Park.
