Oregon hiking trails - Limestone Trail, Klamath Mountains, Josephine County

   
  There are plenty of wilderness hiking trails in Oregon; each one of them is different from the others. When you're here in Oregon backpacking along one of its wilderness hiking trails is always an enjoyable thing to do. Limestone Trail is a backpacking and hiking trail relatively far from Grants Pass, but backcountry backpacking it is great enjoyment any time. Backcountry hiking in Oregon is such a great thing to do. Limestone Trail is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Limestone Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,926 feet which
    is higher than average. Through the summertime at Limestone Trail temperatures are generally in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's while Limestone Trail night low temperatures
through the wintertime are in the 30's. This region does get very dry sometimes, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. With its 8.8 miles of walking distance it's a mid length hike. Different parts of this hiking trail are at very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. This backcountry walk shouldn't take more than 8 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Don’t  
forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. Limestone Trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of hiking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Backcountry hiking here in the Klamath Mountains is the best way to enjoy these hills. Oregon has plenty of splendid wilderness hiking trails, and Limestone Trail is one of them, and it's in Josephine County. Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in the great outdoors a bit, and if you happen to be in Josephine County of Oregon, Limestone Trail is a perfect local backpacking and hiking trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Limestone Trail sees pretty high levels of rainfall; December is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is July. This is just one of a large number of hiking and backpacking trails in this area. Limestone Trail is a normal length wilderness hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough hiking and backpacking trail for advanced backcountry trekkers looking for an outstanding challenge.

Briefly about the general area:
Why not visit close by Panther Creek while you're here at Limestone Trail, and camping at West Branch Campground is always a good experience. Now, you may imagine that's heaps but there's even more exciting stuff to do here at Limestone Trail. Willow Spring is a perfect local attraction, and while you're here at Limestone Trail it's a magnificent idea to stop at Elkhorn Prairie.
Just can't get enough of the Klamath Mountains. The sights at Oregon Caves National Monument will blow your mind; Limestone Trail is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Country Hills Resort is a glorious local campground. No Name Creek is a delightful stream that is worth stopping at, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Indian Creek Klamath Tributary. Near Limestone Trail you discover Layman Gulch which is a good site to check out, and Horse Spring is a stunning spot to stop by while you're at Limestone Trail.
And that's not everything you can do here in the Klamath Mountains. Here at Limestone Trail you'll most likely meet some folks from Grants Pass, and there are some delightful whitewater spots on Elk Creek.
