Oregon hiking trails - Knob Trail, Blue Mountains, Grant County

Knob Trail is a very long way away from civilization, and backcountry trails like these are delightful. This is one of a very small number of wilderness hiking trails in this neighborhood. At parts of the year this region sees very little rain, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. The warmest time of the year at Knob Trail
    arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Knob Trail. This backcountry trek shouldn't take more than 7.5 hours, but of course
some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Finally, trekking time is here again, and Knob Trail in Grant County, Oregon is the outdoors at its best. This backpacking and hiking trail is a normal length backpacking and hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes it an excellent wilderness hiking trail for experienced backcountry hikers in great shape. The total elevation difference for Knob Trail is 1,756 feet which is about average. The picturesque backpacking and hiking trails of the Blue Mountains are the best way to enjoy  
these mountains. This part of Oregon is always a pleasure to explore during backcountry trekking season. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. With its 8.6 miles of walking distance it's a mid length backcountry hike. Knob Trail is a two ended wilderness trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. This is a long great outdoors hiking trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Each one of the many backpacking and hiking trails of Oregon has its own unique beauty. Some parts of Knob Trail are much higher up than other parts of the backpacking trail, and that means that some parts of the backpacking trail could be very different from other parts of it. Around Knob Trail you don’t get a lot of rain; November is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month is July.

Briefly about the general area:
Everybody loves Bologna Basin; a short trip to White House Spring is always worthwhile. This site is so good, just explore all the exciting things to do near Knob Trail. A quick tour to Keating Creek close to Knob Trail is a good idea, and as expected South Fork Big Wall Creek flows through this region.
Rocky Flat is right here at Knob Trail. There's so much to do here at Knob Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Elkhorn Tavern and RV Park is a perfect spot for that. East Bologna Canyon is a fine location to stop by close by, and if time allows, John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is a national park worth visiting. But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the Blue Mountains. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Knob Trail has to offer, you can camp at Lepage Park - John Day Fossil Beds National Monument; Tamarack Spring is always fun to check out.
