Oregon hiking trails - Kelsay Butte Trail, Blue Mountains, Grant County

   
  There are numerous wilderness hiking trails in Oregon, and each one has its own character. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and Kelsay Butte Trail in Grant County, Oregon is a magnificent spot for getting out. This part of Oregon is always a pleasure to stop by during trekking season. Here in Oregon backcountry hiking is a good idea. Oregon has plenty of good wilderness hiking trails, and one of these is Kelsay Butte Trail in Grant County. All through the summer months at Kelsay Butte Trail highs are frequently
    in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 30's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and night lows at Kelsay Butte Trail during the wintertime commonly plunge into the 10's. Kelsay Butte Trail has a total elevation difference
of 884 feet which is a lower than average number. The time needed for this walk is roughly 6.5 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. Kelsay Butte Trail gets very little rainfall; November is the month that gets the most rain; July on the other hand is the driest. There is only one trailhead, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. This is one of many backcountry hiking trails in the surrounding neighborhood. The backpacking trails of the  
Blue Mountains are a very pleasant way to see these hills. There's not much difference in elevation along Kelsay Butte Trail, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your walk. Kelsay Butte Trail is a mid-length backpacking trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough backcountry hiking trail for advanced trekkers looking for an excellent challenge. Kelsay Butte Trail is not very close to Pendleton-Hermiston at all, but backcountry backpacking it is always exciting. Being 7 miles long it's a mid length walk. Sometimes this backpacking and hiking trail gets really dry, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. This is a backpacking and hiking trail that is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Handy Spring is a pleasant local attraction, and why not a little side spree to Big Creek. So many cool things in the Blue Mountains, just incredible. Put some time aside to spend at Kelsay Spring if you're here at Kelsay Butte Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, John Day River - North Fork offers some good whitewater.
A good site like Lost Horse Meadow here at Kelsay Butte Trail is too great to miss. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Kelsay Butte Trail has to offer, you can camp at Lehman Hot Springs. Stay the night at Trough Creek Campground, and needless to say Bismark Creek is a lovely stream that is worth taking a look at.
