The total elevation difference for this trail is 884 feet, and that is lower than average. Kelsay Butte Trail is a one trailhead trail, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. This is a long backcountry trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. This walk shouldn't take more than 6.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Being 7 miles long it's a mid length backcountry walk. This region does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. There's not much difference in elevation along Kelsay Butte Trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole great outdoors hiking trail.
