The total elevation difference for Jumpoff Joe Trail is 2,572 feet, and that is higher than average. All through the months of summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Jumpoff Joe Trail; all through summer nights temperatures
    are in the 30's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Jumpoff Joe Trail sink into the 10's. This great outdoors trail goes through some very different elevations which of course means you need
to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the great outdoors trail. Oregon has lots of outdoors pursuits. Jumpoff Joe Trail has two trailheads, so backpacking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. Here in the great state of Oregon backcountry backpacking never gets boring. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. Each one of the many wilderness trails of Oregon has something unique to offer. At Jumpoff Joe Trail you don’t see much precipitation;  
November is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is July. The delightful wilderness trails of the Blue Mountains are a really good way to spend quality time in the great outdoors. This wilderness trail is a normal length wilderness trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough backpacking and hiking trail for advanced backcountry hikers looking for an outstanding challenge. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. Being 7.4 miles long it's a mid length backcountry hike. Jumpoff Joe Trail is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. This is a vicinity covered with lots of backpacking and hiking trails. You should count on this backcountry hike taking about 6.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that.

Briefly about the general area:
Whitewater paddling is great on John Day River - North Fork; a delightful place to camp here at Jumpoff Joe Trail is Deerhorn Campground. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Handy Spring, and Bull Prairie is a glorious place.
This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. Why not camp at Trough Creek Campground while you're here at Jumpoff Joe Trail. So much cool stuff to do here in the Blue Mountains, too delightful to be true. Getting to North Fork Desolation Creek from Jumpoff Joe Trail is painless, and everyone loves Howard Meadow. Cold Spring is an inspiring location to go to while you're here; why not take a little visit to South Fork Desolation Creek while you're here.
