This neighborhood does get very dry sometimes, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out.     side having an average number of uphill miles which makes this backcountry hiking trail fine for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. This great outdoors hiking trail has only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out trek. Keep in mind that this is a long great
outdoors trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Every Oregon trail is well worth a walk. Finally, backcountry backpacking time is here again, and Horse Mountain Trail in Lane County, Oregon is an excellent spot for getting out. The total elevation difference for this great outdoors hiking trail is 1,359 feet which is about average. With its 12.2 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer trek. This is just one of a large number of backcountry hiking trails in this region. The backcountry  
hiking trails of the Central Cascade Range are the best way to enjoy these mountains. There are many great trails in Oregon, and one of these is Horse Mountain Trail in Lane County. Horse Mountain Trail ordinarily gets a large amount of rainfall; December is the month that gets the most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. There's not much difference in elevation along the backcountry trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. For the duration of the warm months at Horse Mountain Trail temperatures are usually in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 40's. During the winter highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Horse Mountain Trail temperatures dip to the 20's.

Briefly about the general area:
If only every site had this much outdoors exciting stuff, what a great world it would be. Get covered with water paddling on Horse Creek, and needless to say James Creek is a picturesque stream that is worth a visit. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Central Cascade Range, not enough time. Don't forget to take a nice little tour to Mesa Creek, and Wright Spring is always fun to check out.
A short trip to Elk Lake Springs is always worthwhile, and Horse Mountain Trail is a great site to visit for more than one day, Upper Campground is a great site to camp nearby. Island Meadow is a brilliant site to stretch your legs a bit, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Squaw Creek. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Central Cascade Range.
Places like Reserve Meadow are great to have a look at, and East Lake Resort and RV Parks is a good local campground.
