This is just one of a large number of wilderness trails in this area. Hiyu Trail has only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry trekking it in and back out. Now this backpacking trail is pretty long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Hiyu Trail sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is mostly December, that's the one that rains the most, and July  
is the month with the least moisture. Sometimes this backpacking trail gets really dry, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. You spend the whole trek in roughly the same elevation zone, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your trek. Backcountry backpacking in Oregon is always a cool thing to do. Because Hiyu Trail is very secluded from modern life, backcountry trails like these are nice. These backcountry trails here in the Central Cascade Range are the best way to enjoy these highlands.

Why not camp at Twin Springs Campground if you're here at Hiyu Trail, and why not stop at close by Grasshopper Creek while you're here at Hiyu Trail. But wait, there's more exciting things to do in the Central Cascade Range. Loon Creek is a striking stream that is worth stopping at, and Christy Creek has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot close by.
If you came for an overnight stay Echo Campground is a magnificent site to camp, and if you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on McKenzie River - South Fork.
