Oregon hiking trails - High Trail, Blue Mountains, Grant County

   
  High Trail is in a relatively deserted region, and there's fine natural attractiveness waiting for you here along it. In Oregon you never run out of outdoors fun. Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, High Trail in Grant County, Oregon is such a wonderful place. High Trail gets very little precipitation; the wettest month of the year is generally November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is July. There are so many wonderful backpacking trails for backcountry hiking in Oregon; one of these is High Trail
    in Grant County. Summer brings highs in the 90's to High Trail with nighttime lows in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for High Trail. Here in Oregon backcountry hiking is a fine way to spend some time. Every backpacking trail
in Oregon is well worth a walk. This trail is many miles long having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough trail for advanced backcountry hikers looking for a brilliant challenge. Now this backpacking and hiking trail is pretty long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. High Trail has only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out hike. High Trail has a total elevation difference of 3,624 feet which is a higher than average number. The number of trails in this  
neighborhood is not very high. Backcountry backpacking here in the Blue Mountains is a very good way to see these mountaintops. This area does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Some parts of High Trail are much higher up than other parts of the hiking trail which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the hiking trail. High Trail is 11 miles long; it's longer than many hiking trails. Now, this is roughly a 1.5-day walk, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed.

Briefly about the general area:
The Hole is right here at High Trail; John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is a fine local destination. A tour to Bear Flat rejuvenates the soul, and it's a pleasant idea to check out Capsuttle Creek.
A splendid site to stop at near High Trail is Buck Gulch, and since you're here, you could stop at Damon Creek. Just can't get enough of the Blue Mountains. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Blue Mountains. High Trail is a great place to visit for more than one day, Mt Vernon Motel and Trailer Park is a great place to camp nearby, and Bear Flat Springs is an inspiring spot to take a look at while here.
You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things at High Trail. You'll need more than a day to explore everything High Trail has to offer, you can camp at Hitching Post Trailer Court; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Cold Spring.
