neighborhood is not very high. Backcountry backpacking here in the Blue Mountains is a very good way to see these mountaintops. This area does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Some
parts of High Trail are much higher up than other parts of the hiking trail which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the hiking trail. High Trail is 11 miles long; it's longer than many hiking trails. Now, this is roughly a 1.5-day
walk, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed.
Briefly about the general area: The Hole is right here at High Trail; John Day Fossil Beds National Monument is a fine local destination. A tour to Bear Flat rejuvenates the soul, and it's a pleasant idea
to check out Capsuttle Creek. A splendid site to stop at near High Trail is Buck Gulch, and since you're here, you could stop at Damon Creek. Just can't get enough of the Blue Mountains. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Blue Mountains. High Trail is a great
place to visit for more than one day, Mt Vernon Motel and Trailer Park is a great place to camp nearby, and Bear Flat Springs is an inspiring spot to take a look at while here. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things at High Trail. You'll need more than
a day to explore everything High Trail has to offer, you can camp at Hitching Post Trailer Court; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Cold Spring.
