follow all local rules about fires and camping. You spend the whole hike in roughly the same elevation zone, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole wilderness trail. All the water falling down from the sky makes Hand Lake Trail a wet place; the wettest month
of the year is ordinarily December, that's the one that rains the most, and July is when it's the driest. Hand Lake Trail is located a relatively long trip from Bend, but backpacking trails like these are great.
