Hand Lake Trail has a total elevation difference of 224 feet which is a lower than average number. This is not a very long backpacking trail but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. The time needed for this trek is roughly 3.5 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. You spend the whole hike in roughly the same elevation zone, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your hike. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out hike. With its 4 miles of walking distance it's a mid length hike. This area does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go.
