A lot of rainfall falls at Grassy Knob Trail; most of the rain falls through December while July is commonly the driest month. is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. As long as you like the great outdoors you will like Oregon. Different parts of this trail are at very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Grassy Knob Trail is 7 miles
long it's a mid length walk. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. During the days of summer, highs usually are in the 60's at Grassy Knob Trail. All through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's with temperatures
at Grassy Knob Trail dipping down into the 30's all through winter nights. The time needed for this backcountry hike is roughly 6 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that.
Briefly about the general area: Just can't
get enough of the Coast Ranges. Grassy Knob Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Elk River Camp Ground is a good local campground, and there's some flowing water close by, Duvall Creek is a stream you can go to while you're here. Here at Grassy Knob Trail there are
plenty of folks from Brookings, and Anvil Creek is in the neighborhood of Grassy Knob Trail and is always a joy to go to. A visit to Elk Wallows rejuvenates the spirit. There's so much to do here at Grassy Knob Trail that you need to camp here for a while, McGribble Campground is a magnificent site for that. You can run the rapids of Elk River right next door to Grassy Knob Trail.
