Trail you don’t see much rain; through November this region sees the most rain while July is generally the driest month. Fly Creek Trail has a total elevation difference of 1,916 feet, and that is about average. Fly Creek Trail goes through some very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the wilderness hiking trail. Fly Creek Trail is not very near La Grande at all, but it is a really fine great outdoors trail. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Backpacking  
trails are perfect and plentiful in Oregon; one of those is Fly Creek Trail in Umatilla County. With its 13 miles of walking distance; it's longer than many wilderness hiking trails. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can walk it just one way. This is one of many great outdoors trails in the surrounding neighborhood. Trekking here in the Blue Mountains is a really wonderful way to spend quality time in the fresh air. The warmest time of the year at Fly Creek Trail comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 30's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and night lows during the winter for Fly Creek Trail tend to be in the 10's. Fly Creek Trail is quite long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies.

Briefly about the general area:
You must definitely dedicate some time to Hidaway Meadows since you're here at Fly Creek Trail; paddling on Grande Ronde River is so much fun. If you like the outdoors you'll like it here in the Blue Mountains. Take a side journey to Squaw Creek, and Fly Creek Trail is a tremendous place to camp, Time and a Half Campground is a tremendous place.
Man, is there a lot of entertaining stuff to do in close proximity to Fly Creek Trail. Don’t forget to stop by Fly Valley since you're here at Fly Creek Trail, and don't leave Fly Creek Trail without first paying a visit to Lookout Spring. This is such a fun river. East Sheep Creek is a pleasant spot to pop by; you can stay the night at Corrigal Spring Campground. Reno Spring is an inspiring place to visit while you're here, and John Day River - North Fork has a brilliant whitewater paddling spot close by.
