    There are so many wilderness trails in this area. Flat Creek Trail is 5 miles long it's an average length great outdoors hiking trail. This is not a very long wilderness hiking trail but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. You'll must
go far from Medford to get to Flat Creek Trail, but backpacking is such a cool thing to do, and this is a fine location to do that. You spend the whole backcountry trek in roughly the same elevation zone which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Flat Creek Trail regularly gets a good deal of rainfall; through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and July is the month with the least moisture. The pretty backcountry hiking trails of the Southern Cascade Range are the best way to enjoy these hills. At parts of the  
year this region sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. For the period of the summertime months here at Flat Creek Trail, high temperatures typically get into the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Flat Creek Trail temperatures fall to the 30's. The total elevation difference for this hiking and backpacking trail is 229 feet which is lower than average. Flat Creek Trail is a mid-length backcountry hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this wilderness trail great for the average walker looking for a cool adventure. Wonderful great outdoors trails in Oregon are in abundance; Flat Creek Trail in Jackson County is one of them. This backcountry hike shouldn't take more than 4.5 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot.

A river like this is too good to miss. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Southern Cascade Range. Camping at Flat Creek Trail is splendid fun, Cliff Lake Campground is a splendid local campground, and hey, Union Creek is a glorious local stream.
