Oregon hiking trails - Fanton Plaza Trail, Central Cascade Range, Clackamas County       Every wilderness trail in Oregon is well worth a backcountry trek. Fanton Plaza Trail is not very near Hood River at all, but it is a splendid backcountry trail. Backcountry hiking in Oregon is always an amusing thing to do. This backpacking trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end. Briefly about the general area: Everybody loves Squaw Meadow, and whitewater paddling is great on Roaring River. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things in the Central Cascade Range. South Fork Roaring River is a great location to take a look at, and get dripping wet paddling on Sandy River. Take a side visit to Grouse Creek. There's so much to do here at Fanton Plaza Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Lookout Springs Campground is a magnificent place for that.
