Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. Summertime at Elkhorn Crest Trail comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Elkhorn Crest Trail fall into the 20's. Elkhorn Crest Trail is a mid-length backpacking and hiking trail  
having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough wilderness hiking trail for advanced hikers looking for a brilliant challenge. This backcountry trek shouldn't take more than 5.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Elkhorn Crest Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole great outdoors hiking trail. There are numerous hiking trails in Oregon, and each one is different from the others. This is a trail that is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Oregon has plenty of delightful hiking trails, and among these are Elkhorn Crest Trail in Baker County. This is one of a very small number of wilderness hiking trails in this area. Backpacking here in the Blue Mountains is a really great way to spend quality time in nature. At parts of the year this neighborhood sees very little rain, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go.

Briefly about the general area:
Goodrich Dam is a beautiful spot in close proximity to Elkhorn Crest Trail, and there's some flowing water nearby, South Prong Pine Creek is a stream you can go to while you're here. Put some time aside to spend at Alder Loop Spring if you're here at Elkhorn Crest Trail, and camping is available at North Fork Anthony Campground.
You just ought to love the Blue Mountains. Camping at Rocky Ford Campground is always a pleasant experience; if you would like a little side visit, try Rockne Gulch. Coyote Spring is a splendid local attraction; obviously West Fork Lake Creek flows through this area. Be careful coming to Elkhorn Crest Trail, you might not ever want to return back home again.
