Ice Cave and Lava Trail in Deschutes County. Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail is a backpacking and hiking trail of splendid length with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough hiking and backpacking trail for advanced walkers looking for a splendid challenge. The total elevation difference for this backcountry hiking trail is 1,442 feet, and that is about average. Of course, this is an overnight trek, 2.5 days normally, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. All the water falling down from the sky makes Edison Ice  
Cave and Lava Trail a wet site; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. For the duration of the days of summer at Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail temperatures are typically in the 70's with overnight lows in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail. Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail is a long journey away from Bend, but backpacking it is always amusing. The scenic backpacking and hiking trails of the Central Cascade Range are the best way to enjoy these highlands. Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail is 18 miles long; it's longer than many great outdoors hiking trails. This is a two-ended backcountry hiking trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of trekking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end.

Briefly about the general area:
If you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Deschutes River, and a spree to Elk Lake Springs will fill your spirit with good feelings. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Central Cascade Range.
That right there is heaps of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Central Cascade Range has it all. Don't forget to take a wonderful little spree to Crater Creek; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Soda Spring. Round Mountain Pass is near Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail and is positively a good site to visit, and Wire Meadow is a tremendous place. But wait, there's more to do right next door to Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail. Why not camp at East Lake Resort and RV Parks if you're here at Edison Ice Cave and Lava Trail; Dutchman Flat is a tremendous place to check out.
Camping is available at Upper Campground, and needless to say Dutchman Creek is a pretty stream that is worth a visit.
