need. The scenic great outdoors hiking trails of the Central Cascade Range are a really great way to spend quality time in the wilderness. At parts of the year this vicinity sees very little rain, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. Through the summertime at East Zigzag Mountain Trail temperatures are commonly in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. During the wintertime highs are typically in the 40's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for East Zigzag Mountain Trail tend to be in the 30's. The total elevation difference for this wilderness hiking trail is 1,181 feet, and that is about average. East Zigzag Mountain Trail is a one trailhead wilderness hiking trail, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry walk. The time needed for this backcountry hike is roughly 7.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. The hiking trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole hiking trail.

Briefly about the general area:
If you came for an overnight stay Barlow Campground is a good place to camp, and a spree to Wind Creek Basin rejuvenates the soul. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors exciting stuff the Central Cascade Range has to offer. If you're here, you might as well visit Little Zigzag Canyon, and Twin Bridges Campground is a fine campground here.
If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure. If you go for the outdoors, you'll adore East Zigzag Mountain Trail. Zigzag River is a good whitewater spot in close proximity to East Zigzag Mountain Trail, and Yocum Falls is an inspiring site to go to during your stay. At this river you will never have a bad time. Some of the water close by flows, like Rushing Water Creek, and everybody loves Old Maid Flat.
Having a tremendous time in the Central Cascade Range is uncomplicated. A magnificent spot for whitewater paddling in close proximity to East Zigzag Mountain Trail is Sandy River; don't leave East Zigzag Mountain Trail without first paying a visit to Ramona Falls. Muddy Fork is a brilliant local stream, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Hood River here.
