Oregon hiking trails - Dog River Trail, Central Cascade Range, Hood River County

   
  Relatively far from Hood River you come upon Dog River Trail, but there's great natural splendor awaiting you here along it.     stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. There are numerous backpacking and hiking trails in Oregon, and each one is well worth a backcountry walk. Time to get out, and breathe some fresh air,
and Dog River Trail in Hood River County, Oregon is the wilderness at its best. Hiking and backpacking trails are magnificent and plentiful in Oregon, and one of these is Dog River Trail in Hood River County. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. Summertime at Dog River Trail comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and the nighttime is a little colder of course, commonly in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and nighttime  
lows at Dog River Trail during the wintertime commonly drop into the 30's. Dog River Trail is not that long but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in site. This is one of many backcountry hiking trails in the surrounding neighborhood. Backpacking trails like this one here in the Central Cascade Range are a very wonderful way to see these mountaintops. This walk shouldn't take more than 4 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Dog River Trail has two trailheads, so backcountry backpacking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. Dog River Trail is a wet place that gets lots of precipitation; most of the rain falls during December; the driest month is July. With its 4.6 miles of walking distance it's an average length hiking trail.

Briefly about the general area:
Whitewater paddling is nice on Hood River - East Fork, and a short spree to Clinger Spring is always worthwhile. You assume that's enough? Just getting warmed up. This is a popular place for folks from Hood River, and getting to Buck Creek from Dog River Trail is uncomplicated.
You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Central Cascade Range. If you came to camp Nottingham Campground is a good spot to do that; you could always look at Weygandt Canyon. Powder Springs is an inspiring place to visit while here, and Horkelia Meadow is a great place here at Dog River Trail. If you like the outdoors you'll like it here in the Central Cascade Range. Take a little journey to Polallie Creek if you're here at Dog River Trail.
There's so much to do here at Dog River Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Clinger Campground is a brilliant spot for that, and paddling on Hood River - West Fork is so much fun.
