Of course, this is an overnight hike, 1.5 days normally, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. Eagle Butte Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit; Oakridge RV Park is a perfect campground here.
You completely must have a thing about the Central Cascade Range. Devils Canyon is next to Dead Mountain Trail and is undeniably a splendid spot to go to. Man, is there loads of entertaining stuff to do next to Dead Mountain Trail. You should undeniably dedicate some time to Major Prairie while you're here at Dead Mountain Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Salt Creek. A short journey to Warm Springs is always worthwhile; Dead Mountain Trail is a great site to camp, Oakridge Mobile Home Park is a great site.
There's some flowing water nearby, Wall Creek is a stream you can take a look at during your stay, and get dripping wet paddling on Christy Creek.
