With its 4.4 miles of walking distance it's a mid length backcountry hike. Crater Trail gets a common amount of rainfall; November is the wettest month with most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This trail is a normal length trail having an average
number of uphill miles which makes this great outdoors trail great for the average hiker looking for an exciting adventure. The wonderful trails of the Southern Cascade Range are the best way to enjoy these hills. There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry
walk it normally. Oregon has plenty of splendid great outdoors trails, and one of these is Crater Trail in Jackson County. Every Oregon great outdoors trail is well worth a backcountry walk.
Briefly about the general area: Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Southern
Cascade Range. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Crater Trail has to offer, you can camp at Saddle Campground. There's so much to do here at Crater Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Upper South Fork Campground is a pleasant place for that, and a quick visit to Salt Fork Fourbit Creek is certainly a splendid idea.
