The total elevation difference for Crater Butte Trail is 881 feet which is lower than average. There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to hike it normally. The time needed for this hike is roughly 7.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. There's not much difference in elevation along the backpacking trail, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your walk. Now this backcountry trail is pretty long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies.
