  Spending too much time indoors got you down? No problem, Crater Butte Trail in Klamath County, Oregon is a fine choice. Here in the tremendous state of Oregon hiking is always a cool thing to do. There are plenty of wilderness hiking trails in Oregon; each one of them is worth hiking. This trail is a mid length trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough great outdoors trail for advanced walkers looking for a perfect challenge. Crater Butte Trail is not very near Bend at all, but it sure is a a fine backcountry trail.
    The trails of the Central Cascade Range are a tremendous way to explore these peaks. The time needed for this backcountry trek is roughly 7.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. There are wilderness hiking trails all over
Oregon; Crater Butte Trail in Klamath County is one of them. There's not much difference in elevation along Crater Butte Trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. Now this great outdoors trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Being 8.4 miles long it's a mid length backcountry trek. This hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 881 feet which is lower than average. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Crater Butte Trail sees pretty high levels of rainfall; December is the month  
that gets the most rain while July is frequently the driest month. High temperatures at Crater Butte Trail during the warm days of summer are in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Crater Butte Trail dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. This hiking trail has only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry walk. There are so many great outdoors trails in this area. If you are in Oregon during backcountry trekking season you have to go backcountry trekking.

Briefly about the general area:
There's just no way someone can get bored here at Crater Butte Trail. Shelter Cove Resort is a brilliant local campground, and of course Rhodod Creek is a stunning stream that is worth stopping at.
Having a pleasant time in the Central Cascade Range is trouble-free. Lake Lucile Campground is a pleasant campground nearby, and don't forget to take a good little tour to Wharf Creek. Crater Lake National Park is a fine local destination here at Crater Butte Trail, and a spree to Crater Butte Trail wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Cold Spring. Willamette Pass is near Crater Butte Trail and is a perfect spot, and you are near Sunset Cove since you're here.
