There are not too many hiking trails in this vicinity. Cool Camp Trail regularly gets a good deal of rain; the month with most of the rain is December; July is the month with the least moisture. Cool Camp Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole backcountry trail. Trekking here in the Central Cascade Range is a fine way to explore these hills. Backpacking and hiking trails are pleasant and plentiful in Oregon; one of these is Cool Camp Trail in Linn County. Cool Camp Trail is not very near Albany-Lebanon at all, but many people like to trek
here to be near nature. The time needed for this hike is roughly 5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. This wilderness trail is a normal length wilderness trail with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this
hiking trail good for the average walker looking for an amusing adventure. Being 5.8 miles long it's a mid length hike. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Even though this is not a very long backpacking and hiking trail you should still bring some emergency
supplies just in case something happens.
Briefly about the general area: This river is so great. Stay the night at Detroit Lake State Park, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Santiam River - Middle. A short spree to McNabb Falls is always worthwhile. You'll in
fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Central Cascade Range. Cool Camp Trail is a great place to camp, Tombstone Prairie Campground is a great place; there's some flowing water nearby, Donaca Creek is a stream you can have a look at during your stay.
There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Canal Creek; let's not forget Jude Creek which is a stream that you may encounter while you're here.
