This is a one trailhead hiking trail, so in and out is the way to walk it normally. There's not much difference in elevation along the hiking trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. This backcountry hike shouldn't take more than 3.5 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. At parts of the year this neighborhood sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Cold Spring Trail is 4.2 miles long it's an average length hiking trail. Cold Spring Trail has a total elevation difference of 1,284 feet which is an average number. Even though this is not a very long trail you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens.
