it's considered a longer backcountry trek. Summertime highs at Chimney Peak Trail typically tend to be in the 70's; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's; overnight lows in the 30's for Chimney Peak Trail. Keep in mind that this is a long backcountry trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Chimney Peak Trail is a wilderness trail of delightful length with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this trail great for hard core backpackers looking for adventure.

Briefly about the general area:
Red Heifer Pass is a wonderful place to stop at close to Chimney Peak Trail, and a journey to Bloody Point is always a great idea. And if that's not enough there's heaps more enjoyable things to do in the Central Cascade Range. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Santiam River - Middle; Chimney Peak Trail is great enough to spend more than a day at, Detroit Lake State Park is a great local campground.
Chimney Peak Trail in fact is in the middle of a lovely outdoors paradise. McNabb Falls is always fun to check out, and Little Meadows is a picturesque place any time of year. If you come at the right time of year, Canal Creek offers some great whitewater, and getting to West Fork McQuade Creek from Chimney Peak Trail is easy. Now, you may think that's heaps but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the Central Cascade Range.
Take a little visit to Gregg Creek since you're here at Chimney Peak Trail, and camping at Country Star Recreational Vehicle Park is always a great experience.
