Oregon hiking trails - Chico Trail, Wallowa County

   
  There are numerous backcountry trails in Oregon, and each one is picturesque in its own way. Outdoors folks generally like this part of Oregon. Chico Trail is a backcountry trail pretty far from Lewiston, but backcountry trekking along this backcountry trail is very cool. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Now, this is roughly a 2.5-day backcountry hike, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. The length of this hiking trail is on the longer side having an average number of uphill miles which makes this great outdoors
    trail good for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Chico Trail is 15.4 miles long; it's longer than many backpacking and hiking trails. Chico Trail has two trailheads which means you have the option of hiking it one way if you have someone to pick you up at the other end.
It is very arid here at Chico Trail typically; the month of December is the wettest with most of the snow while July is typically the driest month. Through the summertime months at Chico Trail highs are usually in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while the cold winter nights at Chico Trail are in the 10's. This great outdoors trail has a total elevation difference of 1,654 feet which is about average. This great outdoors trail sometimes gets very dry, so do check for current fire  
restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Keep in mind that this is a long great outdoors trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Great outdoors trails are magnificent and plentiful in Oregon, and Chico Trail in Wallowa County is one of them. This is one of a very small number of great outdoors trails in this area. Put on your backcountry trekking shoes, and hit the backcountry trail, Chico Trail in Wallowa County, Oregon is such an excellent site. Here in Oregon hiking is a great idea. This backpacking and hiking trail goes through some very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the backpacking and hiking trail.

Camping is available at Out Post RV Park, and naturally Little Elk Creek is a scenic stream that is worth taking a look at. Camping at Kirkland Campground is always a good experience; a short trip to Elk Spring is always worthwhile.
A spree to Chico Trail wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Double Spring; everybody loves Braham Meadows. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the vicinity of Chico Trail. Get your heart pumping on the perfect whitewater of Grande Ronde River. A glorious spot to explore near Chico Trail is Nells Canyon, and why not take a look at close by Davis Creek since you're here at Chico Trail.
