Oregon hiking trails - Chico Trail, Wallowa County

   
  Here in the brilliant state of Oregon backcountry trekking is the brilliant thing to do. This part of Oregon is always a pleasure to stop by during backcountry hiking season. Chico Trail is a long tour away from Lewiston, but it is an enjoyable site to walk. This trek should take you about 2.5 days, so it's a perfect thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. This neighborhood does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you
    plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. The total elevation difference for this backcountry trail is 1,654 feet which is about average. This wilderness hiking trail is a wilderness hiking trail of tremendous length having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a great
great outdoors trail for experienced trekkers in glorious shape. During the months of summer at Chico Trail highs are commonly in the 80's while night lows are regularly in the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Chico Trail fall into the 10's. There are plenty of wilderness trails in Oregon; each one of them has its own unique attractiveness. Chico Trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the hiking trail could be very different  
from other parts of it. There are not too many great outdoors trails in this area. Chico Trail is a two ended backcountry trail with two trailheads, so backcountry backpacking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. Not much rainfall falls here at Chico Trail; December is the wettest month with most snow, and the driest month of the year is July. Finally, hiking time is here again, and Chico Trail in Wallowa County, Oregon is a tremendous site for getting out. There are many brilliant wilderness trails in Oregon; one of those is Chico Trail in Wallowa County. Being 15.4 miles long; it's considered a longer backcountry walk. This is a long hiking and backpacking trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies.

Briefly about the general area:
This is such a wonderful river. Why not camp at Kirkland Campground while you're here at Chico Trail; if you're here why not explore Nells Canyon. If you came for an overnight stay Out Post RV Park is a fine spot to camp; as expected Little Elk Creek flows through this region.
Don't leave Chico Trail without first paying a visit to Double Spring, and there's some flowing water close by, Davis Creek is a stream you can go to while here. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff close to Chico Trail. A great location for whitewater paddling near Chico Trail is Grande Ronde River. Elk Spring is an inspiring place to stop at during your stay, and do set aside some time for Braham Meadows since you're here at Chico Trail.
