Cable Creek Trail is a long trip away from Pendleton-Hermiston, but backcountry hiking along this wilderness trail is very enjoyable. This hike should take you about 2 days, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. This area does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. And
    keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. Here in Oregon backcountry backpacking is something that is always fun to do. Some parts of this wilderness trail are much higher up than other parts of the wilderness trail, so keep in mind that you may need
to dress differently at different elevations. Every single Oregon great outdoors trail has its own unique attractiveness. The total elevation difference for Cable Creek Trail is 1,822 feet which is an average number. The scenic hiking and backpacking trails of the Blue Mountains are a really glorious way to spend quality time in the fresh air. Cable Creek Trail is a location that is quite dry regularly; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. For the period of the warm months here at  
Cable Creek Trail, high temperatures typically reach the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 30's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Cable Creek Trail plunge into the 10's. Cable Creek Trail is 13.8 miles long; it's considered a longer backcountry hike. Hiking trails are great and plentiful in Oregon, and Cable Creek Trail is one of them, and it's in Umatilla County. This is just one of a large number of great outdoors hiking trails in this area. This hiking and backpacking trail is a hiking and backpacking trail of glorious length with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a good great outdoors hiking trail for experienced backcountry trekkers in wonderful shape. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end, so backcountry backpacking it one way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. This is a wilderness hiking trail that is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Stay the night at Lehman Hot Springs, and the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Weasel Spring. Just can't get enough of the Blue Mountains.
There's so much to do here at Cable Creek Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Elkanah Campground is a magnificent site for that, and Hidaway Meadows is a magnificent site. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Grande Ronde River, and hey, Line Creek is a great local stream. Now, you may feel that's a load but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Cable Creek Trail. A tour to Lookout Spring will fill your spirit with splendid feelings; some of the water close by flows, like Meadow Creek.
And that's not all you can do here in the Blue Mountains. If you come at the right time of year, John Day River - North Fork offers some delightful whitewater, and a tour to Frazier Meadow rejuvenates the soul.
