You'll have to go far from Pendleton-Hermiston to get to Bear Camp Trail, but backpacking is such an enjoyable thing to do, and this is a magnificent place to do that. This neighborhood does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. state of Oregon backcountry hiking is a tremendous idea. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. This is a two-ended backpacking and hiking trail with two trailheads which means you have the option of backcountry backpacking it one way if you have someone to pick
you up at the other end. Backcountry backpacking here in the Blue Mountains is a really tremendous way to spend quality time in nature. There's not much difference in elevation along the great outdoors trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole great outdoors
trail. The time needed for this hike is roughly 3 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Bear Camp Trail is pretty dried out usually; November is the wettest month with most rain, and July is when it's the driest. The total elevation difference
for this backpacking and hiking trail is 1,022 feet which is about average.
Briefly about the general area: Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Mountains. A tour to Keeney Meadow rejuvenates the spirit, and why not camp at Meadowbrook Lodge and Overnight Park
