King Trail is not very close to Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton at all, but it is an exciting spot to hike. Backcountry hiking here in the Central Cascade Range is a very perfect way to see these highlands. Baty Silver King Trail has two trailheads, so backcountry backpacking it one
way is an option if you can arrange for a ride back. The time needed for this backcountry trek is roughly 1.5 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This is one of a very small number of trails in this region.
Briefly about the general area:
Just can't get enough of the Central Cascade Range. Baty Silver King Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Skookum Lake Campground is a good local campground, and camping at B and B Rentals is always a brilliant experience.
