the summer months are in the 80's while night lows are commonly in the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's, and night lows through the wintertime for BVD Trail tend to be in the 30's. You should count on this hike taking about 5.5 hours, but you never know stuff could
go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. It's a long trip from Medford to BVD Trail, but backcountry backpacking is such an enjoyable thing to do, and this is a great spot to do that. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. This is just one of a

Briefly about the general area: This is such a wonderful river. If you come at the right time of year, Steamboat Creek offers some great whitewater. A spree to Bear Wallow rejuvenates the spirit, and you can stay the night
at Weeping Rock Campground. You just should like the Central Cascade Range. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Copland Creek; BVD Trail is a wonderful place to camp, Big Twin Lakes Campground is a wonderful place.
