There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry walk it normally. With its 12 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer backcountry trek. The total elevation difference for Alco Trail is 2,217 feet which is about average. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so don’t forget to check for any current fire restrictions before you go. Of course, this is an overnight hike, 2 days normally, so better have big a backpack to fit all the stuff you need. Now this backpacking trail is pretty long, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Some parts of this trail are much higher up than other parts of the trail, and that means that some parts of the trail could be very different from other parts of it.
