Oregon hiking trails - Alco Trail, Southern Cascade Range, Jackson County

   
  Each one of the many backcountry trails of Oregon has its own unique splendor. Here in Oregon trekking is a nice idea. Oregon is a fine outdoors state. Alco Trail gets a lot of water; the month with most of the rain is November while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Backpacking trails are fine and plentiful in Oregon; Alco Trail in Jackson County is one of them. There are so many hiking trails in this area. Different parts of Alco Trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different
    conditions on different parts of the backcountry hiking trail. Alco Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,217 feet which is about average. Put on your backcountry backpacking shoes, and hit the backpacking trail, Alco Trail in Jackson County, Oregon is a great place for getting
out. High temperatures at Alco Trail through the days of summer are in the 80's while overnight lows are frequently in the 40's. During the winter highs are frequently in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Alco Trail. Being 12 miles long; it's a long backcountry hiking trail. There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry hike it normally. Alco Trail is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Now, this is roughly a 2-day backcountry walk, so it's a glorious thing if your backpack is big enough to do the  
job. Trekking here in the Southern Cascade Range is a fine way to explore these peaks. It's a long drive from Medford to Alco Trail, but many folks like to backcountry walk here to be near the outdoors. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. Sometimes this trail gets really dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. The length of this wilderness hiking trail is on the longer side with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough hiking trail for advanced backcountry trekkers looking for an excellent challenge.

Briefly about the general area:
Be careful coming to the Southern Cascade Range, you might not ever wanna go home again. Yeah, come up here to the Southern Cascade Range for a nice time. There's so much to do here at Alco Trail that you need to camp here for a while, West Fork Trail Creek Mill is a tremendous site for that; get drenched paddling on Umpqua River - South.
This river has it all. Hungry Creek is in close proximity to Alco Trail and is always a bliss to explore, and paddling on Jackson Creek is so much fun. Take a little journey to Morine Creek since you're here at Alco Trail It's always magnificent to pop by Ragsdale Spring. So much fun stuff to do at Alco Trail, so little time. Lots of people from Medford come to Alco Trail; Oliver Spring is a good local attraction.
Alco Trail is great enough to spend more than a day at, Bear Mountain RV Park is a great local campground, and Myers Canyon is a nice place to pop by.
