This wilderness trail has a total elevation difference of 1,797 feet which is an average number. There is only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to hike it normally. At parts of the year this area sees very little rain, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Of course, this is an overnight backcountry trek, 1.5 days normally, so it's a good thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job. Some parts of Gold Creek Trail are much higher up than other parts of the hiking trail, and that means that some parts of the hiking trail could be very different from other parts of it. Keep in mind that this is a long backcountry hiking trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Gold Creek Trail is 11.4 miles long; it's longer than many hiking trails.
