walkers in delightful shape. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. This backcountry hike shouldn't take more than 9 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. All the water falling down
from the sky makes Waipunalei Trail a wet site; April is when you get the most rain here, and June on the other hand is the driest. This is a long hiking trail, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Different parts of this hiking and backpacking trail are at very different elevations,
so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. There are many tremendous wilderness hiking trails in Hawaii, and Waipunalei Trail is one of them, and it's in Hawaii County.
Briefly about the general area: Do schedule some time to go to
Nahiwa Point close to Waipunalei Trail if you have a chance, and Waipunalei Stream is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting. Since you're here at Waipunalei Trail why not visit Alenaio Gulch, and not far from here you can enjoy the trees of Manowaialee Forest
Reserve. People from Hilo love to come to Waipunalei Trail; there's some flowing water close by, Kapili Stream is a stream you can visit while you're here.
