Camping is available at Honolulu Koa Kampground; there's some flowing water nearby, Kahana Stream is a stream you can explore while here. Kapalaoa Beach is in close proximity to Summit Trail if you're in a beach type of mood, and since you're here, do take a tour to Kalaipaloa
Point.
Do set aside some time for Lauhulu while you're here at Summit Trail; if you want to hit the beach, Kaluanui Beach is in close proximity. The trees of Hauula Forest Reserve are a great source of shade on hot summer days, and if you came for an overnight stay Camp Mokuleia
is a great spot to camp.
You ought to undeniably dedicate some time to pua Plain since you're here at Summit Trail, and Summit Trail is not far at all from Honolulu. Sacred Falls is a magnificent local attraction, and Kawa Stream is one of the streams nearby that might be worth
