Hawaii hiking trails - Summit Trail, Honolulu County

   
  If you happen to be in Hawaii, why not go backpacking, it is so much fun. Hawaii has lots of outdoors activities. There are wilderness hiking trails all over Hawaii, and Summit Trail is one of them, and it's in Honolulu County. Some parts of this backpacking and hiking trail are much higher up than other parts of the backpacking and hiking trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Summit Trail is many miles long with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a nice trail for experienced trekkers
    in magnificent shape. Summit Trail is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in place. Gotta get out of the town man, and Summit Trail in Honolulu County, Hawaii is a really good place to spend
some time. Summit Trail is a quite wet location commonly with much rainfall; most of the rain falls through November, and the driest month is August. At Summit Trail during the long summer days highs are in the 80's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 70's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Summit Trail descend into the 60's. This trek should take you about 6 days, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. Summit Trail is a backcountry trail relatively far  
from Honolulu, but it is a cool place to backcountry hike. There are two trailheads to chose from, one in each end, so if you can get a ride from someone, you can backcountry trek it just one way. This is one of many trails in the surrounding area. There are plenty of wilderness hiking trails in Hawaii; each one of them has something unique to offer. With its 38.8 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer walk. The total elevation difference for this backcountry trail is 1,611 feet, and that is about average.

Briefly about the general area:
Camping is available at Honolulu Koa Kampground; there's some flowing water nearby, Kahana Stream is a stream you can explore while here. Kapalaoa Beach is in close proximity to Summit Trail if you're in a beach type of mood, and since you're here, do take a tour to Kalaipaloa Point.
Do set aside some time for Lauhulu while you're here at Summit Trail; if you want to hit the beach, Kaluanui Beach is in close proximity. The trees of Hauula Forest Reserve are a great source of shade on hot summer days, and if you came for an overnight stay Camp Mokuleia is a great spot to camp.
You ought to undeniably dedicate some time to pua Plain since you're here at Summit Trail, and Summit Trail is not far at all from Honolulu. Sacred Falls is a magnificent local attraction, and Kawa Stream is one of the streams nearby that might be worth taking a look at. You think that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Waihoi Springs is always fun to check out, and a tremendous location to stop at is Kawaipapa Gulch.
