Hawaii hiking trails - Sliding Sands Trail, Maui County       It's a lengthy journey from Kahului-Wailuku to Sliding Sands Trail, but trekking along this backpacking and hiking trail is very enjoyable. Hawaii has plenty of wonderful trails, and Sliding Sands Trail is one of them, and it's in Maui County. When was the last time you got out in the outdoors a bit? Sliding Sands Trail in Maui County, Hawaii is the outdoors at its best. Every Hawaii trail is well worth a walk. There is only one trailhead, so you'll be     backcountry hiking it in and back out. With its 11.2 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer backcountry trek. Some parts of Sliding Sands Trail are much higher up than other parts of the backpacking trail, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. This trail has a total elevation difference of 2,639 feet, and that is higher than average. The length of this hiking trail is on the longer side having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a nice hiking trail for experienced backcountry trekkers in splendid shape. This is one of a very small number of hiking trails in this neighborhood. Of course, this is an overnight hike, 1.5 days normally, so make sure you've got all your overnight gear packed. Sliding Sands Trail is a pretty   wet place commonly with lots of rain; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain while September is ordinarily the driest month. High temperatures at Sliding Sands Trail throughout the warm days of summer are in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 70's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 70's, and winter nights come with lows in the 60's to Sliding Sands Trail. Sliding Sands Trail is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Briefly about the general area: You absolutely must adore Sliding Sands Trail. Kahikinui Forest Reserve is a nice local forest. Don't miss out on a tour to Haleakala National Park if you're here at Sliding Sands Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Oheo Campground is a pleasant spot to camp. You have to go to Huakini Bay when you're here at Sliding Sands Trail, and if you're looking for a beach close by we recommend Waipu. While you're here at Sliding Sands Trail it's a good idea to visit Kawilinau, and this is a popular spot for people from Kahului-Wailuku. While staying at Sliding Sands Trail you could always discover Pkai Gulch, and camping is available at Hosmer Grove Campground.
