Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is one of the destinations near Puna Ka Trail that are splendid to go to, and pua Point is reasonably close. Camping at Nmakanipaio Campground is always a good experience, and you could always explore Kahele.
right next door to Puna Ka Trail you'll hit upon a wooded vicinity called Naulu Forest, and do set aside some time for Ka Desert if you're here at Puna Ka Trail.
