There is only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry hiking it in and back out. There's not much difference in elevation along the wilderness hiking trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish. This is not a very long great outdoors trail
    but you should still bring some emergency supplies just in case something happens. Through the warmest time of the year here at Puako-Waimea Trail, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 70's. High temperatures throughout the winter
are normally in the 70's while Puako-Waimea Trail nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 60's. Puako-Waimea Trail gets very little rain; during the month of January you get the most rain around here, and July meanwhile is the driest month. Puako-Waimea Trail has a total elevation difference of 164 feet which is a lower than average number. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. There are plenty of hiking trails in Hawaii; each one of them has something unique to offer. There are hiking trails all  
over Hawaii, and among these are Puako-Waimea Trail in Hawaii County. This backpacking and hiking trail is a very short backpacking and hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this trail tremendous for the average backcountry trekker looking for an enjoyable adventure. Puako-Waimea Trail is 3.6 miles long it's a short wilderness hiking trail. If you happen to be in Hawaii, why not go backpacking, it is always an enjoyable thing to do. The time needed for this backcountry trek is roughly 3 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. This great outdoors trail sometimes gets very dry, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. The number of trails in this vicinity is not very high.
