Hawaii hiking trails - Mokuleia Trail, Honolulu County

This region does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to
    bring a stove or make a camp fire. You should count on this backcountry hike taking about 9 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This hiking and backpacking trail is a very long hiking and backpacking trail with an average amount of climbing
distance which makes this a very tough hiking and backpacking trail for advanced walkers looking for an outstanding challenge. Different parts of Mokuleia Trail are at very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the wilderness trail could be very different from other parts of it. Each trail in Hawaii has something unique to offer. Mokuleia Trail is 10 miles long; it's considered a longer hike. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Mokuleia Trail. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's.  
During the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 70's with temperatures at Mokuleia Trail dipping down into the 50's during winter nights. Trekking in Hawaii never gets boring. This is just one of a large number of hiking and backpacking trails in this vicinity. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Keep in mind that this is a long great outdoors hiking trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. The total elevation difference for this hiking trail is 2,225 feet which is about average. From a precipitation point of view Mokuleia Trail is a rather typical spot; the wettest month of the year is generally January, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is June. Ok, you've been cooped up too long, time to get out in the fresh air a bit, and Mokuleia Trail in Honolulu County, Hawaii is a brilliant place to go.

All the outdoors fun stuff in the neighborhood of Mokuleia Trail will keep you coming back over and over. Getting to Makaleha Stream from Mokuleia Trail is simple. There's so much to do here at Mokuleia Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Timberline is a splendid site for that. A wooded area near Mokuleia Trail is Mokulia Forest Reserve, and Peacock Flat is a perfect location to check out.
Some of the water nearby flows, like Kapalaau Stream *, and Mokulia Beach is quite close by if you're in a beach type of mood. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Mokuleia Trail has to offer, you can camp at Camp Mokuleia; Haili Gulch is a good spot to spend some time. Not far from Mokuleia Trail you find Kaiahulu, and you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Kelia Beach.
