Hawaii hiking trails - Mokuleia Trail, Honolulu County

   
  Outdoors people generally like this part of Hawaii. You'll must go far from Honolulu to get to Mokuleia Trail, but when you backcountry walk it you're always having a nice time. Hey, time for a backcountry walk don’t you think? if you happen to be in Honolulu County of Hawaii, Mokuleia Trail is a nice local trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Keep in mind that this is a long backpacking and hiking trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Being 10 miles long; it's a long great outdoors trail. Hawaii has plenty of splendid hiking trails,
    and one of these is Mokuleia Trail in Honolulu County. Different parts of this great outdoors trail are at very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. The length of Mokuleia Trail is on the longer side having an average
number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough great outdoors hiking trail for advanced hikers looking for a fine challenge. The yearly precipitation here at Mokuleia Trail is about average; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain; June is the month with the least moisture. At Mokuleia Trail throughout the days of summer highs are in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 70's, and night lows throughout the winter for Mokuleia Trail tend  
to be in the 50's. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in spot. There are plenty of hiking trails in Hawaii; each one of them is different from the others. Mokuleia Trail has a total elevation difference of 2,225 feet which is about average. This is a vicinity covered with lots of great outdoors hiking trails. Backcountry backpacking in Hawaii is a splendid way to spend some time. There is only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry hiking it in and back out. This backpacking and hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. You should count on this backcountry hike taking about 9 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster.

Briefly about the general area:
All the outdoors enjoyable stuff right next door to Mokuleia Trail will keep you coming back again and again. Taking a little tour to nearby Kaiahulu is a nice idea. Mokuleia Trail is in the neighborhood of Haili Gulch which is certainly worth stopping at, and why not check out close by Kapalaau Stream * while you're here at Mokuleia Trail.
A journey to Peacock Flat rejuvenates the spirit, and a day at Kelia Beach is time well spent. Makaleha Stream is a pretty stream that is worth visiting, and beaches are nice and Mokulia Beach is no exception. Mokulia Forest Reserve is a nice forest neighborhood in close proximity to Mokuleia Trail; if you came for an overnight stay Camp Timberline is a delightful spot to camp.
