Hawaii hiking trails - Lower Trail, Maui County

   
  Time to get out, and breathe some fresh air, and if you happen to be in Maui County of Hawaii, Lower Trail is a wonderful local backcountry trail for doing a bit of leg stretching. Each one of the many hiking trails of Hawaii is picturesque in its own way. If you happen to be in Hawaii, why not go backcountry backpacking, it is a fine way to spend some time. The time needed for this backcountry hike is roughly 6.5 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. Lower Trail is a normal length wilderness
    trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes it a wonderful backcountry trail for experienced hikers in fine shape. The number of backcountry trails in this neighborhood is not very high. Backcountry hiking trails are nice and plentiful in Hawaii; one of these is
Lower Trail in Maui County. The total elevation difference for Lower Trail is 1,405 feet, and that is about average. No chance of getting bored in Hawaii if you like the outdoors. Lower Trail gets lots of water; January is when you get the most rain here while June is usually the driest month. There's not much difference in elevation along the hiking and backpacking trail, so you get pretty much the same conditions along the whole hiking and backpacking trail. Being 7.4 miles long it's an average length hiking and backpacking trail. Lower Trail has only  
one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry walk. Relatively far from Kahului-Wailuku you find Lower Trail, but if you're looking for a wonderful site to go backcountry hiking, this is a wonderful selection. Now this great outdoors trail is pretty long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. Summer at Lower Trail comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 70's. Through the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 70's while Lower Trail nighttime low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 60's.

Briefly about the general area:
Haleakala National Park is a magnificent national park, and Wekea Point is very near and is a magnificent place to visit. You're sure to bump into some great folks from Kahului-Wailuku here.
Oheo Campground is a tremendous campground here, and a good spot to stop by is Kamole Gulch. If you came for an overnight stay Hosmer Grove Campground is a glorious location to camp, and if you want to hit the beach, Kanaio Beach is in the neighborhood.
