Hawaii hiking trails - Lower Trail, Maui County

   
  Hawaii has so much to offer the outdoors lovers. You'll need to go far from Kahului-Wailuku to get to Lower Trail, but when you spend some time backcountry hiking here you will feel like a whole new person. Can’t wait to get out in the fresh air, Lower Trail in Maui County, Hawaii is just what you need. Lower Trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your hike. There are numerous hiking and backpacking trails in Hawaii, and each one is worth hiking. Lower Trail has only
    one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out backcountry trek. During the warm days of summer at Lower Trail temperatures are commonly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 70's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 70's with winter lows
in the 60's overnight here at Lower Trail. The number of backpacking trails in this area is not very high. You should count on this backcountry hike taking about 6.5 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. Lower Trail gets a large amount of water; through January this neighborhood sees the most rain while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you happen to be in Hawaii, why not go hiking, it is always an enjoyable thing to do. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you  
go. The length of Lower Trail is about average having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough backpacking trail for advanced walkers looking for a magnificent challenge. Lower Trail is quite long, so don't forget to pack enough supplies. Being 7.4 miles long it's a mid length hike. Lower Trail has a total elevation difference of 1,405 feet, and that is about average. Hiking and backpacking trails are tremendous and plentiful in Hawaii, and Lower Trail in Maui County is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
While you're here at Lower Trail you will meet lots of folks from nearby Kahului-Wailuku. Camping at Oheo Campground is always a splendid experience, and a trip to Wekea Point is always a tremendous idea.
Visiting Haleakala National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and while you're here why not have a look at Kamole Gulch. Lower Trail is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Hosmer Grove Campground is a delightful local campground, and a delightful beach nearby is Kanaio Beach.
