Keauhou Trail frequently gets a lot of rainfall; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is June. There is only one trailhead, so you'll be backpacking it in and back out. Don’t forget to check for any current restrictions or closures before you go. Throughout the warm days of summer, highs frequently are in the 60's at Keauhou Trail. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. Highs all through the winter are frequently in the 60's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Keauhou Trail dip into the 40's. This wilderness trail has a total elevation difference of 2,698 feet, and that is higher than average. This is a great outdoors hiking   trail that is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Different parts of Keauhou Trail are at very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the backcountry hiking trail could be very different from other parts of it. This trek should take you about 2 days, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. This is one of many backpacking trails in the surrounding vicinity. The length of Keauhou Trail is on the longer side having an average number of uphill miles which makes this backpacking trail pleasant for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Briefly about the general area: A fine place near Keauhou Trail is Kahele, and camping is available at Nmakanipaio Campground. Do schedule some time to stop by Keauhou Point close to Keauhou Trail if you have a chance; close by you'll locate a wooded region called Naulu Forest.
