Hawaii hiking trails - Kalapana Trail, Hawaii County       With so many outdoors pastimes available in Hawaii you'll never get bored. When you're here in Hawaii backpacking along one of its wilderness hiking trails is so much fun. Each one of the many wilderness hiking trails of Hawaii has something unique to offer. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 60's to Kalapana Trail. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 60's with temperatures at Kalapana Trail dipping down into the 40's throughout winter nights. Hey, time for a     hike don’t you think? Kalapana Trail in Hawaii County, Hawaii is such a nice location. Kalapana Trail is located a pretty long journey from Hilo, but backcountry hiking trails like these are pleasant. Being 35.4 miles long; it's longer than many backcountry hiking trails. This backcountry trek should take you about 5 days, so better have big backpack to fit all the stuff you need. This is a vicinity covered with lots of trails. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out hike. This wilderness trail is many miles long having an average number of uphill miles which makes this a very tough trail for advanced backcountry walkers looking for a great challenge. Now this backpacking and hiking trail is pretty long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. Some parts of Kalapana Trail are much higher up than other   parts of the backcountry hiking trail, and that means that some parts of the backcountry hiking trail could be very different from other parts of it. There are many delightful wilderness hiking trails in Hawaii; one of those is Kalapana Trail in Hawaii County. The total elevation difference for this hiking trail is 2,831 feet which is higher than average. And keep in mind that there could be temporary safety restrictions in site. The high level of rain makes Kalapana Trail a rather wet place; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here, and June on the other hand is the driest. Briefly about the general area: Kalapana Trail is good enough to spend more than a day at, Nmakanipaio Campground is a good local campground. A forest in close proximity to Kalapana Trail is Naulu Forest, and if you have time to spare, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a national park worth taking a look at. Kahele is near Kalapana Trail and is undeniably a good spot to check out; a pleasant journey to Ka Desert is a fine way to spend an afternoon. A day at picturesque Kamokuna next to Kalapana Trail is a great thing to do, and don't forget to take a look at Ka Lae Apuki while you're here.
