Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 80's with winter lows in the 60's overnight here at Kalalau Trail. precipitation. This backcountry hiking trail is a backcountry hiking trail of fine length with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a perfect hiking trail for experienced backcountry hikers in perfect shape. Of course, this is an overnight backcountry walk, 2.5
days normally, so it's a perfect thing if your backpack is big enough to do the job. Hawaii has plenty of great wilderness hiking trails, and Kalalau Trail in Kauai County is one of them. This is a one trailhead hiking trail, so in and out is the way to backcountry walk it normally.
There's not much difference in elevation along Kalalau Trail which means the conditions are about the same from start to finish.
Briefly about the general area: Lots of people from Kapaa come to Kalalau Trail, and if you're here at Kalalau Trail it's a great idea to
stop by Kahuamaa Flat. If you're here at Kalalau Trail, do take a tour to Pa Ma Waa *, and the trees of Npali-Kona Forest Reserve are a glorious source of shade on hot summer days. Some of the water close by flows, like Hanakoa Stream, and you can spend the day on the beach
at Kalalau Beach. You can run the rapids of Hanalei near Kalalau Trail; don't leave Kalalau Trail without first paying a visit to Hanakoa Falls. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this site. Time spent at Honopu Beach near Kalalau Trail is always great It's always nice to explore Hoolea Falls. Looking for some flowing water? Try Kalalau Stream, and a good location is Kalalau Valley.
