This backpacking and hiking trail is a mid length backpacking and hiking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this wilderness trail tremendous for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Kaaha Trail is a wilderness hiking trail quite far from Hilo, but when you backcountry
    trek it you're always having a fine time. Kaaha Trail gets very little precipitation; the month with most of the rain is January while June is mostly the driest month. This is a long great outdoors hiking trail, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. The total elevation
difference for Kaaha Trail is 2,271 feet which is an average number. Being 6.8 miles long it's a mid length backcountry hike. This is a one trailhead great outdoors hiking trail, so you'll be backcountry hiking it in and back out. Backcountry trails are delightful and plentiful in Hawaii, and among these are Kaaha Trail in Hawaii County. This is one of many wilderness trails in the surrounding vicinity. This wilderness trail goes through some very different elevations, and that means that some parts of the wilderness trail could be very different from  
other parts of it. Outdoors folks generally like this part of Hawaii. During the months of summer highs here at Kaaha Trail get into the 50's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Kaaha Trail dipping down into the 30's throughout winter nights. The time needed for this hike is roughly 6 hours, but of course some people walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This vicinity does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping.
