Kaaha Trail is mostly a rather arid spot; of all the months in a year January is the one
    with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is June. Different parts of Kaaha Trail are at very different elevations, so keep in mind that you may need to dress differently at different elevations. This region does get very dry sometimes, so do check for current fire restrictions
before you go if you plan to bring a stove or make a camp fire. The time needed for this backcountry walk is roughly 6 hours, but you never know stuff could go wrong and you could get stuck so be prepared for that. This wilderness hiking trail has only one trailhead, so you'll be backcountry backpacking it in and back out. For the period of the summer at Kaaha Trail highs are usually in the 50's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 30's. Highs throughout the wintertime are commonly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Kaaha  
Trail are in the 30's. Here in Hawaii backpacking is a wonderful way to spend some time. Kaaha Trail is quite long, so do pack enough food to last the whole trip. The total elevation difference for Kaaha Trail is 2,271 feet which is an average number. Hiking here in Hawaii is a must. This hiking and backpacking trail is a mid length hiking and backpacking trail having an average number of uphill miles which makes this hiking trail great for hard core backpackers looking for adventure. Kaaha Trail is 6.8 miles long it's an average length trail. This is just one of a large number of hiking trails in this neighborhood.

Nearby Pohakaa is a wonderful spot to go if you're at Kaaha Trail. There's so much to do here at Kaaha Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Nmakanipaio Campground is a pleasant place for that.
Opihinehe is in the vicinity of Kaaha Trail and is a good spot to explore; Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a pleasant local destination.
