Trail that you need to camp here for a while, Nmakanipaio Campground is a pleasant spot for that, and during your tour here you'll meet some folks from Hilo for sure. Upper Waikea Forest Reserve is a fine forest neighborhood near Hilo Trail, and don't miss out on a spree to Hawaii
Volcanoes National Park while you're here. Hopukani Springs is an inspiring place to go to during your stay. A short tour to Waterhole Spring is always worthwhile, and if you're here, you might as well stop at Waiaama Gulch.
