great outdoors trail for advanced walkers looking for a glorious challenge. There are not too many great outdoors trails in this vicinity. There is only one trailhead, so you're looking at an in and out hike. Halemauu Trail gets a good deal of water; January is the wettest month
with most rain, and the driest of the months is September. A visit to Hawaii is not complete without some hiking. This backpacking trail has a total elevation difference of 1,692 feet which is an average number. Keep in mind that this is a long hiking and backpacking trail, so
don't forget to pack enough supplies. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping.
Briefly about the general area: Enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Mokulau Beach, and Hosmer Grove is a pleasant forest region nearby. Hosmer Grove Campground is a wonderful local
campground, and why not a little side spree to Wailuaiki Stream. Halemauu Trail is a perfect site to visit for more than one day, Oheo Campground is a perfect site to camp nearby, and do pop by Kano Stream if you're here at Halemauu Trail. Kawilinau is a brilliant spot to stretch
your legs a bit, and a journey to Haleakala National Park is recommended. So much exciting stuff near Halemauu Trail, just incredible. While staying at Halemauu Trail you could always explore Hauoliwahine Gulch, and during your journey here you'll meet some folks from Kahului-Wailuku for sure.
