You'll need to go far from Kahului-Wailuku to get to Halemauu Trail, but you always have a tremendous time when you're backcountry trekking along it. This hiking trail is a hiking trail of nice length with an average amount of climbing distance which makes it a tremendous wilderness trail for experienced backcountry hikers in delightful shape. highs are commonly in the 70's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Halemauu Trail plunge into the 60's.
Briefly about the general area: Take a little tour to Wailuaiki Stream if you're here at Halemauu Trail, and Hosmer Grove Campground is a
good local campground. During your stay at Halemauu Trail do check out close by Mokulau Beach, and Halemauu Trail is a location with many visitors from Kahului-Wailuku. Haleakala National Park is a delightful place close to Halemauu Trail, and Halemauu Trail is a glorious site
to visit for more than one day, Oheo Campground is a glorious site to camp nearby. Getting to Kano Stream from Halemauu Trail is easy; spots like Kawilinau are splendid to stop at. Now, you may feel that's loads but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Halemauu Trail.
Hosmer Grove is a forest close to Halemauu Trail that you can go to, and Hauoliwahine Gulch is another great spot to pop by close by.
