There are so many great hiking and backpacking trails for backcountry hiking in Hawaii, and Halemaumau Trail in Hawaii County is one of them. This great outdoors hiking trail sometimes gets very dry, so make sure you check current conditions and fire restrictions with local forest authorities before you head out. a great way to spend some time. The total elevation difference for this wilderness trail is 469 feet, and that is lower than average. Halemaumau Trail is a hiking and backpacking trail pretty far from Hilo, but you always have a good time when you're hiking along it. Through the summer months at Halemaumau Trail highs are ordinarily in the 60's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 60's with winter lows in the 40's overnight here at Halemaumau Trail. Halemaumau Trail gets a typical amount of rain; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily January, that's the one that rains the most, and June is the month with the least moisture. The backpacking and hiking trail stays roughly within the same elevation zone the whole time, so you won’t have to worry about different climate zones along your hike. Halemaumau Trail is 6 miles long it's an average length backpacking and hiking trail.
