Hawaii hiking trails - Halawa Trail, Honolulu County

Different parts of Halawa Trail are at very different elevations which of course means you need to be prepared for different conditions on different parts of the backcountry trail. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Halawa Trail, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 70's, and through the dark
    hours in the winter at Halawa Trail temperatures drop to the 60's. Keep in mind that this is a long backpacking trail, so make sure you bring plenty of supplies. Alright, enough of spending all this time inside a building, time to get out, and Halawa Trail in Honolulu County, Hawaii
is just the place. Hawaii is a fine outdoors state. This wilderness hiking trail is many miles long with an average amount of climbing distance which makes this a very tough hiking trail for advanced backcountry hikers looking for a splendid challenge. Please follow all local rules about fires and camping. With its 10 miles of walking distance; it's considered a longer backcountry hike. Halawa Trail usually gets a great deal of precipitation; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain, and August meanwhile is the driest month. The total elevation  
difference for Halawa Trail is 1,786 feet, and that is about average. There are so many good hiking and backpacking trails for hiking in Hawaii; one of them being Halawa Trail in Honolulu County. This backcountry trail has only one trailhead, so in and out is the way to backcountry hike it normally. You should count on this trek taking about 9 hours, but of course some folks walk a bit slower and some a bit faster. This is one of a very small number of hiking trails in this neighborhood.

Briefly about the general area:
Coming to this river is always a good idea. Halawa Trail is not far at all from Honolulu, and Honolulu Koa Kampground is a good campground here. This river is so good.
Keaahala Spring is a fine local attraction; a day at pretty Keehi Lagoon Beach close to Halawa Trail is a nice thing to do. It's a great idea to visit Kalihi Stream, it's near Halawa Trail; Kalihi Valley is also a great site to discover. Kneohe Forest Reserve is worth visiting, and Baskerville Spring is always fun to check out.
You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things at Halawa Trail. A good place like Pauoa Flats here at Halawa Trail is too pleasant to miss, and Kai Beach is a pretty beach to take a look at. Don't forget to take a pleasant little tour to Kamanaiki Stream, and while you're here, do take a trip to Aiea Bay.
