This hiking trail has a total elevation difference of 474 feet, and that is lower than average. A wonderful forest near Crater Rim Trail is Klauea Forest Reserve, and why not take a look at Halap also while you're here. Near Crater Rim Trail you come across splendid places like Kahele, and if you came for an overnight stay Nmakanipaio Campground is a fine site to camp.
